Iraqi Communist Party Hosts the 1st Trade Unionist Seminar of the Left in Arab Countries
The first Arab Left Trade Unionist Seminar
opened in the city of Erbil – Iraq on Thursday 24 October 2013,
hosted by the Iraqi Communist Party.
The following Communist and Left parties and
organizations are participating in the Seminar:
Sudanese Communist Party, People’s Party of
Palestine, Jordanian Communist Party, Lebanese Communist Party, Egyptian
Communist Party, Party of Progress and Socialism in Morocco, Kuwaiti
Progressive Party, Progressive Democratic Forum in Bahrain, Palestinian
Liberation Front, Democratic Front of the Liberation of Palestine, Iraqi Communist Party, Kurdistan Communist Party - Iraq.
The meeting was addressed by Comrade Hamid
Majeed Mousa, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist
Party. His contribution dealt extensively with the political developments in
the Middle East and their impact on the peoples of the region. Special
attention was paid to the tasks of the forces of the Left, and the need to
activate their role and strengthen their contribution to the struggles of
peoples toward achieving true democracy and social progress.
The participants in the Seminar visited the
cemetery of the martyrs of the Iraqi Communist Party, who had joined the Communist
Partisan Movement in the fight against Saddam’s fascist dictatorship.
The Seminar is continuing its deliberations and
will end its sessions on Saturday 26 October 2013.
